Journal writing prompt: Memory of madness

Posted by: dee | Comments (0)

There is no famous quote today, mostly because I could not find one that “fit” with what I wanted you to consider in your journal.? However, don’t let that stop you from journaling!

Today is the 5 year anniversary of a day that effected people worldwide – however, in America, the impact was probably felt even deeper.

I was (and continue to be) terribly disturbed by the knowledge that there are certain news networks (which will remain nameless) who have chosen to replay their live coverage from 5 years ago – in its entirety today.? I totally can not understand why anyone would make the decision, and that is what I want you to consider in your journal today.

So, here’s your journal prompt:? Is it really necessary for anyone to replay the full coverage of the events of September 11, 2001, uneditted, as it happened?? Do you really think anyone has forgotten what happened?? Do you want to see the full days coverage again?? What purpose does this “replay” serve?

Journal writing prompt bonus:? I suspect that most of us remember what we were doing on that day 5 years ago.? In your journal, write about it – how did you find out about it?? What were you doing?? What were your “next steps”?? And, more importantly, how did it effect your life then and now?

To journaling,

Dee

Journal Writing Prompt: Give & Take

Posted by: dee | Comments (0)

“Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting.”

~Princess Elizabeth Asquith Bibesco

In today’s quote, we are compelled to take a look at ourselves to see how we are living.? Giving without remembering and taking without forgetting blesses us not only spiritually, but, also, blesses our general health & wellness – mentally, spiritually, and physically.? I’ve talked to people who can’t seem to get past how wonderful they were to give something to someone in need, who now hold onto that one good deed like a life saver – and don’t ever let the other person forget it.? I’ve also talked to people who take & take & take without any thankfulness or memory of what they have received (always expecting more).

Journal Writing Prompt: Chess anyone?

Posted by: dee | Comments (0)

“Avoid the crowd. Do your own thinking independently. Be the chess player, not the chess piece.”

~Ralph Charell

Do you find yourself following the crowd and simply doing what “everyone else is doing”?? Or, do you like to strike out on your own, evaluate everything for yourself and then form your own conclusion?? Or, doing deeper, do you feel like everything you do is part of a greater plan, and you are just going along for the ride?? Write about this in your journal.
Journal writing prompt bonus:? A friend of mine and I were talking recently, and we were raised very differently as far as limitations placed on our aspirations by our parents.? My parents told me that I could do or be anything I wanted to be, and that success was a matter of taking the reins and, as Nike says “Just do it”.? On the other hand, she was not given that sort of positive reinforcement.? In your journal, write about whether you believe how you were raised affects whether, as Ralph Charell says, you are a chess piece (being moved by others) or a chess player (doing the moving).

Happy Journaling!
