Welcome!
Welcome to Dee Phipps.com. Although I really don’t like talking or writing about myself, I felt moved to create this site so that you may learn a little more about the woman behind the art - whether it’s the art of health, faith, writing, or more “traditional” art such as leatherworking, metalworking, jewelry making, etc.
As you can already see, I have several ways in which I express myself, and several topics that I am deeply passionate about. So, on this site, I have given myself the license to essentially write about what moves me on a particular day, share stories, and just have a little bit of fun!
I do hope you will enjoy this site, and will take some time to explore. I’ve also included links (on the right hand side of this page) to websites that I frequently visit, absolutely can’t live without, or websites that showcase my work and passions. I will continue to add to this list as I’m able.
You may be wondering what “the deal is” with the pottery theme. I used to turn pottery when I was much younger (not with any great skill, mind you, it was really just something to do and I never took it too terribly seriously) - but, there is more to the theme than that.
One thing I constantly remind myself of is that I’m simply the pot - not the potter. (hehehehe, because if I was the potter, we would REALLY have more shards of the vase than what you see above!) My gifts and talents, my passions and interests, are all precious gifts that God has given me - not to be wasted or foolishly laid aside. It took me a long time to become comfortable with that fact, but, there is quite a bit of comfort and joy in that knowledge. So, the theme that I chose for this website is one that I allow to guide my life - I am the pot, not the potter - and the pot doesn’t tell the potter how to do things, nor does it whine and complain about what is can or can not do (thank goodness - or it would have been quite noisy when I was still throwing pottery!), and finally, while a pot may develop cracks, or even lose a piece here and there, the master potter can always turn those blemishes and imperfections into a work of art!
I pray you will enjoy your time here, and that this site touches you.
