Journal Writing Prompt: How are you living?
“I am going to concentrate on what’s important in life. I’m going to strive everyday to be a kind and generous and loving person. I’m going to keep death right here, so that anytime I even think about getting angry at you or anybody else, I’ll see death and I’ll remember.”
Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider,
Northern Exposure, Do The Right Thing, 1992
In your journal consider today’s quote. Are you concentrating on what’s important in life? Is it a worthwhile pursuit? If you believe it’s worthwhile, but, are not concentrating on it – why not? If you are concentrating on it, recall when that became a concentration in your life. What was happening? What prompted you?
Journal writing prompt bonus: Simply write about your initial response to today’s quote. Is this a nice idea in theory but impossible in “real life”? Or, is it altogether dumb? Once you’ve explored your initial response, go back and reread the quote, considering it again- what is your response to the quote upon further consideration?
Happy Journaling!
