Journal Writing Prompt: Liberty
Posted by: | CommentsSo this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause.
~George Lucas, Senator Amidala in Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)
US movie director & screenwriter (1944 – )
In your journal, consider today’s quote in a today-oriented context. What do you suppose George Lucas (via the Star Wars character) means by the quote? Do you see this happening in today’s society? Alternatively, is the fictitious character simply stating an untruth?
Journal writing prompt bonus: Sometimes, it’s easy to take our liberties from granted. In your journal, write out a short list of the liberties that you value most in your life. Can you envision a time when they may be gone? If so, imagine the context in which it could be taken? How do you suppose it would be presented to you – something “for your own good”? A life lesson? Write about it in your journal.

Instructions for Life
Posted by: | CommentsI received this in email a few days ago…and really thought it was worth sharing. The email (which is one of those crazy “you must forward this to x people or else” emails) attributed the following to the Dalai Lama. For the record, I don’t know if that’s right or not – but, the following instructions are so true, I decided to pass them along without actually knowing whether the email was correct with the source or not.
